This is a simple first food recipe. As your baby transitions off the bottle, you will want to start with vegetable and fruits and introduce meats last. Although your pediatrician may recommend introducing rice cereal in certain situations (i.e. reflux disease,) solid foods should not be introduced before 6 months.

Sweet potatoes are an easy start food for baby and will provide your baby with vitamin C, potassium, and fiber.

36 ounces

2 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes

24 ounces water

1. Preheat oven to 400F

2. Cut the potatoes lengthwise and place them flesh side down on a baking sheet. Pour 8 ounces of water onto the tray.

3. Roast approximately for 60 minutes until tender. The potatoes should be bubbling and caramelized. Allow potatoes to cool for 10-15 minutes so you hold them easily.

4. Spoon out the flesh and add to the blender with the remaining water and purée until smooth. Pour into ice cube tray, allow to cool, wrap with Saran wrap and freeze.

5. Hope baby enjoys it!
